I discovered my love for words at 10 when I was given a manual typewriter. However, I soon abandoned my word-loving ways for steady work in finance and earned a degree in accounting. Several years ago, I resumed my Word Nerd status as a freelance copy editor, proofreader, and writer of back-of-the-book and embedded indexes. I’ve completed many courses, including a specialized copyediting program at UCSD, and UC Berkeley’s Indexing Theory and Application.
I recently judged the ACES Headline Contest, and currently serve on the marketing and membership committees of the American Society of Indexers, as well as its Key Words editorial board. I am also an elected Member at Large on the Editorial Freelancers Association’s Board of Governors.
